Put Wall Bounce Strategy: Trading NQ Off Gamma Levels with Entry, Stop, and Target

By Ken Baggett · Updated August 18, 2026

This is the strategy built directly on the levels we publish every morning: buying NQ at the put wall, the strike where dealer hedging supplies mechanical demand into a selloff. Most strategies fade a price. This one fades into a known pool of hedging flow. Full rules below.

The setup

Three preconditions, all mandatory. First, positive gamma regime: price must be trading above the hedge flip level, because that is the world where dealer hedging leans against moves and the put wall behaves like a floor. Below the flip level this exact trade becomes a donation, so the strategy is simply switched off. Second, it must be the first touch of the put wall today: first touches carry the freshest hedging response. Third, no scheduled event risk in the next 30 minutes: a put wall does not care about your plans when CPI prints.

Entry

Define the zone, not a line: from 10 points in front of the wall to the wall itself. Two entry styles. Passive: a limit order inside the front half of the zone, accepting you may buy into momentum. Confirmation: let price trade into the zone, then enter when a 1-minute candle closes back above the zone with a higher low behind it. The confirmation entry gives up a few points and skips the days the floor was never defended. New traders should take the confirmation entry, full stop.

Stop loss

A fixed 20 points beyond the far side of the wall. The zone plus 20 gives the level room to be swept, and put walls get swept: the low of the day frequently prints a handful of points through the strike before the bounce, which is a liquidity sweep doing its job on tight stops. If 20 beyond the wall is more risk than your account can size properly with the sizing formula, trade MNQ, not a tighter stop.
